a young child to engage in is imaginative play that is creative and emulative. Through play, children discover and experience their surroundings, explore and make use of their bodies, and come to understand their relationship to the world.
Waldorf schools save formal academics for grade school. Our early childhood programs introduce the deep bio-neurological, emotional, and physical foundations of education through daily, weekly, and seasonal rhythms of intentional, purposeful activities. For example, literacy is introduced through the arts of poetry, song, and oral storytelling. Practical mathematics is introduced through baking, cooking, and counting activities. Large muscle strength and graceful movement is developed through organized games, creative play acting, gardening, and carding wool. Fine motor skills are encouraged through finger games, puppetry, finger-knitting, table setting, food serving, and sewing.
The Waldorf environment is uncluttered and calming. Interior colors are soft and warm, and the light is diffused. Toys are made of natural materials and everyday objects that stimulate children to utilize their boundless creative imagination during play. Our intention is to offer a nurturing space where children feel confident to explore their growing sense of self.

Our Philosophy
At Heart To Hand, our belief is that the most important "work" for
Waldorf education is not child-initiated; it is child-centered. The teacher brings the curriculum, but the curriculum is so broad that there is a place for every student to uniquely shine.
